The Day of the Lord is near and who can stand it?
And I saw from the mouth of the dragon [Satan], and from the mouth of the beast [Antichrist], and from the mouth of the false prophet, three unclean spirits like frogs. For they are the spirits of devils working signs, and they go forth unto the kings of the whole earth, to gather them to battle against The Great Day of the Almighty God. Behold, I come as a thief. Blessed is he who watches, and keeps his garments, lest he walk naked, and they see his shame. And he shall gather them together into a place, which in Hebrew is called Armageddon. [Mount Megiddo Near Jerusalem] (St John - Apocalypse 16:13-16)
The Day of the Lord shall come as a thief, in which the heavens shall pass away with great noise, and the elements shall be melted with heat, and the earth and the works which are in it, shall be burned up. (St Peter - 2Peter 3:10)
The Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven, with the angels of his power, in a flame of fire, giving vengeance to them who know not God, and who obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. Who shall suffer eternal punishment in destruction, from the face of the Lord, and from the glory of his power, when he shall come to be glorified in his Saints, and to be made wonderful in all them who have believed; because our testimony was believed upon you in That Day. (St Paul - 2Thessalonians 1)
I Am God, and there is none else, I Am God, and there is none the like to Me, declaring from the beginning the things that shall come, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, my counsel shall stand, and my will shall be done... Tell and come, and consult together: who has declared this from the beginning, who has foretold this from that time? Have not I the Lord, and there is no God else besides me? A just God and a Saviour, there is none besides me. Be converted to me, and you shall be saved, all you ends of the earth, for I am God, and there is no other. I have sworn by myself, the word of justice shall go out of my mouth, and shall not return. (Almighty God - Prophet Isaiah 46:9,10 ; 45:21-23)
Jerusalem, Jerusalem, who kills the prophets, and stone them who are sent to you, how often I wanted to gather your children together, like a hen gathers her brood under her wings, and you were not willing? Behold your house shall be left to you desolate. And I say to you, that you shall not see me till the time come, when you shall say: Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord. (Our Lord Jesus - St Mathew 23:37-39)
Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are they who mourn, for they shall be comforted. Blessed are the meek, for they shall possess the land. Blessed are they who hunger and thirst after justice, for they shall have their fill. Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy. Blessed are the pure of heart, for they shall see God. Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called children of God. Blessed are they who suffer persecution for justice' sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are you when they shall revile you, and persecute you, and speak all that is evil against you, untruly, for my sake, be glad and rejoice, for your reward is great in heaven. (Our Lord Jesus - St Mathew 5:3-11)
And it shall come to pass, in the last days, says the Lord, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh, and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams. And upon my servants indeed, and upon my handmaids will I pour out in those days of my spirit, and they shall prophesy. And I will show wonders in the heaven above, and signs on the earth beneath; blood and fire, and vapour of smoke. The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and manifest day of the Lord come. And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord, shall be saved. And in mount Zion, and in Jerusalem shall be salvation, as the Lord has said, and in the remnant whom the Lord shall call. (Prophet Joel 2:30-32) At that time shall Michael rise up, the great prince, who stands for the children of your people, and a time shall come such as never was from the time that nations began even until that time. And at that time shall your people be saved, every one that shall be found written in the book. And many of those that sleep in the dust of the earth, shall awake, some unto life everlasting, and others unto everlasting reproach. But they who are learned shall shine as the brightness of the firmament, and they who instruct many to justice, as stars for all eternity. (Prophet Daniel 12) And I will pour out upon the house of David and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and supplications; and they shall look upon Me, whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him as one mourns for an only son; and they shall grieve over him, as one grieves for a firstborn (Almighty God - Prophet Zechariah 12:10).
And this gospel of the kingdom, shall be preached in the whole world, for a testimony to all nations, and then shall the consummation come. (Our Lord Jesus - St Mathew 24:14)
And Jesus came to Nazareth, where he was brought up, and he went into the synagogue, according to his custom, on the Sabbath day; and he rose up to read. And the book of Isaiah the prophet was delivered unto him. And as he unfolded the book, he found the place where it was written: "The Spirit of the Lord is upon me. Therefore he has anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor, he has sent me to heal the contrite of heart, to preach deliverance to the captives, and sight to the blind, to set at liberty them who are oppressed, to proclaim the time of grace of the Lord". And when he had folded the book, he restored it to the minister, and sat down. And the eyes of all in the synagogue were fixed on him. And he began to say to them: This day is fulfilled this scripture in your ears... " (Isaiah 61:1-2) [Fulfilling the First Advent - if Jesus finished up verse 2 it continues:] "And the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn". [Second Advent] And all they in the synagogue, hearing these things, were filled with anger. And they rose up and thrust him out of the city; and they brought him to the brow of the hill, whereon their city was built, that they might cast him down headlong. But he passing through the midst of them, went his way. (St Luke 4:16-29)
The Day of the Lord of hosts shall be upon every one that is proud and lofty, and upon every one that is lifted up, and he shall be brought low, and upon all the cedars of Lebanon, that are high and lifted up, and upon all the oaks of Bashan, and upon all the high mountains, and upon all the hills that are lifted up, and upon every high tower, and upon every fenced wall... and the loftiness of man shall be bowed down, and the haughtiness of men shall be made low... and the idols he shall utterly abolish. And they shall go into the holes of the rocks, and into the caves of the earth, for fear of the Lord, and for the glory of his majesty, when he arise to shake terribly the earth... And the Lord alone shall be exalted in That Day. (Prophet Isaiah 2:10-21)
Come and behold the works of the Lord, what wonders He has done upon earth, making wars to cease even to the end of the earth. He shall destroy the bow, and break the weapons, and the shield He shall burn in the fire. Be still and know that I Am God, I will be exalted among the nations, and I will be exalted in the earth. (Psalm 46:8-11)
And I saw, when he had opened the sixth seal, and behold there was a great earthquake, and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the whole moon became as blood; And the stars from heaven fell upon the earth, as the fig tree casts its green figs when it is shaken by a great wind; And the heaven departed as a book folded up, and every mountain, and the islands were moved out of their places. And the kings of the earth, and the princes, and tribunes, and the rich, and the strong, and every bondman, and every freeman, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of mountains; And they say to the mountains and the rocks: Fall upon us, and hide us from the face of Him that sits upon the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb; For The Great Day of their wrath is come, and who shall be able to stand? (St John - Apocalypse 6:12-17)
God shall come manifestly, our God shall come, and shall not keep silence. A fire shall burn before him, and a mighty tempest shall be round about him. He shall call heaven from above, and the earth, to judge his people. Gather together his saints to him, who set his covenant before sacrifices. And the heavens shall declare his justice, for God is judge. (Psalm 50:3-6)
For behold The Day shall come kindled as a furnace, and all the proud, and all that do wickedly shall be stubble; and the day that come shall set them on fire, said the Lord of hosts, it shall not leave them root, nor branch. But unto you who fear my name, The Sun of Justice shall arise, and health in his wings; and you shall go forth, and shall leap like calves of the herd. And you shall tread down the wicked when they shall be ashes under the sole of your feet in the day that I do this, said the Lord of hosts. (Prophet Malachi 4:1-3)
I will gather all nations to Jerusalem to battle, and the city shall be taken, and the houses shall be rifled, and the women shall be defiled; and half of the city shall go forth into captivity, and the rest of the people shall not be taken away out of the city. Then the Lord shall go forth, and shall fight against those nations, as when he fought in the day of battle. And his feet shall stand in That Day upon the Mount of Olives, which is over against Jerusalem toward the east, and the Mount of Olives shall be divided in the midst thereof to the east, and to the west with a very great opening, and half of the mountain shall be separated to the north, and half thereof to the south. And you shall flee to the valley of those mountains, for the valley of the mountains shall be joined even to the next, and you shall flee... and the Lord my God shall come, and all the Saints with him. And it shall come to pass in That Day, that there shall be no light, but cold and frost. And there shall be one day, which is known to the Lord, not day nor night, and in the time of the evening there shall be light. And it shall come to pass in That Day, that living waters shall go out from Jerusalem, half of them to the east sea, and half of them to the last sea, they shall be in summer and in winter. And the Lord shall be king over all the earth, in That Day there shall be One Lord, and his Name shall be One. (Almighty God - Prophet Zechariah 14)
I have commanded my sanctified ones, and have called my strong ones in my wrath, them who rejoice in my glory... The Lord of hosts has given charge to the troops of war. To them who come from a country afar off, from the end of heaven, the Lord and the instruments of his wrath [unprecedented physical collapse of the heavenly army, Angel and Saints, with world's corrupted rulers and their armies and people, to save and heal and restore the world from all evil and from complete destruction, and bringing about the Kingdom of God, and end of transgression, sin, inequity, and everlasting righteousness, justice, peace - the Lord executes his judgments through his servants, even though that one gesture from the Lord puts the universe out of existence]... And I will visit the evils of the world, and against the wicked for their iniquity, and I will make the pride of infidels to cease, and will bring down the arrogance of the mighty. (Almighty God - Prophet Isaiah 13:3-13) And behold a white horse, and He who sat upon it was called faithful and true, and with justice does He judge and fight. And his eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many diadems... And the armies that are in heaven followed him on white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean... And I saw the beast [Antichrist], and the kings of the earth, and their armies gathered together to make war with Him who sat upon the horse, and with his army [Angels and Saints]. And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet, who wrought signs before him, by which he seduced them who received the character of the beast, and who adored his image. These two were cast alive into the pool of fire, burning with brimstone. And the rest [Antichrist allies and corrupted world leaders and their armies] were slain by the sword of him who sits upon the horse, which proceeds out of his mouth, and all the birds were filled with their flesh. And I saw an angel coming down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit, and a great chain in his hand. And he laid hold on the dragon the old serpent, which is the Devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years. [until thrown with his fallen Angels and Men in the lake of fire] And the ten horns which you saw, are ten kings [Antichrist allies], who have not yet received a kingdom, but shall receive power as kings one hour with the beast. These have one design, and their strength and power they shall deliver to the beast [Antichrist]. These shall fight with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them, because He is Lord of lords, and King of kings, and they who are with him are called, and elect, and faithful [Angels and Saints]. (St John - Apocalypse 19:19-21; 17:12-14)
The Church will enter the glory of the kingdom only through this final Passover, when she will follow her Lord in his death and Resurrection. The kingdom will be fulfilled, then, not by a historic triumph of the Church through a progressive ascendancy, but only by God's victory over the final unleashing of evil, which will cause his Bride [The Glorified Church] to come down from heaven. (Catechism of the Holy Catholic Church # 677)
The Saints shall rejoice in glory, they shall be joyful in their beds. The high praise of God shall be in their mouth, and two-edged swords in their hands; to execute vengeance upon the nations, chastisements among the people; to bind their kings with fetters, and their nobles with fetters of iron; to execute upon them the judgment that is written, this glory is to all his Saints. Halleluiah (Psalm 149:5). Give to the king your judgment, O God, and to the king's Son your justice; to judge your people with justice, and your poor with judgment. Let the mountains receive peace for the people, and the hills justice. He shall judge the poor of the people, and He shall save the children of the poor; and He shall humble the oppressor. And He shall continue with the sun, and before the moon, throughout all generations. He shall come down like rain upon the mown grass, and as showers falling gently upon the earth. In his days shall justice spring up, and abundance of peace, till the moon be taken sway. And He shall rule from sea to sea, and from the river unto the ends of the earth... And all kings of the earth shall adore Him, all nations shall serve Him. For He shall deliver the poor from the mighty, and the needy that had no helper. He shall spare the poor and needy; and He shall save the souls of the poor. He shall redeem their souls from usuries and iniquity, and their names shall be honorable in his sight... For Him they shall always adore, they shall bless Him all the day... Let His name be blessed for evermore, His name continues before the sun. And in Him shall all the tribes of the earth be blessed; all nations shall magnify Him. Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel, who alone does wonderful things. And blessed be the name of his majesty for ever; and the whole earth shall be filled with his majesty. So be it. Amen (Psalm 72). Gird your sword upon your thigh, O You Most Mighty. With your comeliness and your beauty set out, proceed prosperously, and reign. Because of truth and meekness and justice, and your Right Hand shall conduct You wonderfully (Psalm 45:3). They who hope in the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall take wings as eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint (Isaiah 40:31). Listen unto Me, my people; and give ear unto Me, O my nation; for a law shall proceed from Me, and I will make my judgment to rest for a light of the people. My righteousness is near; my salvation is gone forth, and my arms shall judge the people; the isles shall wait upon Me, and on my arm shall they trust. Lift up your eyes to the heavens, and look upon the earth beneath, for the heavens shall vanish away like smoke, and the earth shall wax old like a garment, and they that who therein shall die in like manner; but my salvation shall be for ever, and my righteousness shall not be abolished. Listen unto Me, you who know righteousness, the people in whose heart is my Law; fear not the reproach of men, neither be afraid of their revilings. (Isaiah 51:4). The Lord shall go forth as a mighty man, as a man of war shall He stir up zeal. He shall shout and cry, He shall prevail against his enemies. I have always held my peace, I have kept silence, I have been patient, I will speak now as a woman in labour; I will destroy, and swallow up at once. I will lay waste the mountains and hills, and will make all their grass to wither; and I will turn rivers into islands, and will dry up the standing pools. And I will lead the blind into the way which they know not, and in the paths which they were ignorant of I will make them walk; I will make darkness light before them, and crooked things straight; these things have I done to them, and have not forsaken them (Isaiah 42:13). The Lord has reigned, let the earth rejoice; let many islands be glad. Clouds and darkness are round about Him, justice and judgment are the establishment of His throne. A fire shall go before Him, and shall burn His enemies round about. His lightnings have shone forth to the world; the earth saw and trembled. The mountains melted like wax, at the presence of the Lord; at the presence of the Lord of all the earth. The heavens declared His justice, and all people saw His glory (Psalm 97:2). |

We give you thanks, O Lord God Almighty, who are, and who was, and who are to come, because you have assumed your great power, and you have reigned. And the nations were angry, and your wrath has come, and the time of the dead, that they should be judged, and that you should render reward to your servants the prophets and the saints, and to them who fear your name, little and great, and should destroy them who have corrupted the earth. (St John - Apocalypse 11:17-18)
Behold then the goodness and the severity of God: towards them indeed that are fallen, the severity; but towards you, the goodness of God, if you abide in goodness. (St Paul - Romans 11:22).
When therefore you shall see the abomination of desolation, which was spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place, he who reads let him understand, then they who are in Judea, let them flee to the mountains, and he who is on the housetop, let him not come down to take anything out of his house, and he who is in the field, let him not go back to take his coat. And woe to them who are with child, and who give suck in those days. But pray that your flight be not in the winter, or on the Sabbath. For there shall be then great tribulation, such as has not been from the beginning of the world until now, neither shall be. And unless those days had been shortened, no flesh should be saved, but for the sake of the elect those days shall be shortened. Then if anyone shall say to you: look here is Christ, or there, do not believe him. For there shall arise false Christs and false prophets, and shall show great signs and wonders, so as to deceive, if possible, even the elect. Behold I have told it to you beforehand. If therefore they shall say to you: behold he is in the desert, do not go out, behold he is in the inner chambers, believe it not. For as lightning comes out of the east, and appears even into the west, so shall the coming of the Son of man be. Wheresoever the body shall be, there shall the eagles also be gathered together. And immediately after the tribulation of those days, the sun shall be darkened and the moon shall not give its light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of heaven shall be moved. And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven, and then shall all tribes of the earth mourn. And they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with much power and majesty. And when the Son of man shall come in his majesty, and all the angels with him, then shall he sit upon the seat of his majesty. And all nations shall be gathered together before him, and he shall separate them one from another, as the shepherd separates the sheep from the goats, and he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on his left. Then shall the king say to them who shall be on his right hand: Come, you blessed of my Father, possess the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. For I was hungry, and you gave me to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave me to drink; I was a stranger, and you took me in; I was naked, and you covered me; I was sick, and you visited me; I was in prison, and you came to me. Then shall the just answer him, saying: Lord, when did we see you hungry, and fed you; thirsty, and gave you drink? And when did we see you a stranger, and took you in? Or naked, and covered you? Or when did we see you sick or in prison, and came to you? And the king answering, shall say to them: Verily I say to you, as long as you did it to one of these my least brethren, you did it to me. Then he shall say to them also that shall be on his left hand: Depart from me, you cursed, into everlasting fire which was prepared for the devil and his angels. For I was hungry, and you gave me not to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave me not to drink; I was a stranger, and you took me not in; I was naked, and you covered me not; I was sick and in prison, and you did not visit me. Then they also shall answer him, saying: Lord, when did we see you hungry, or thirsty, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister to you? Then he shall answer them, saying: Verily I say to you, as long as you did it not to one of these least, neither did you do it to me. Let God arise, and let his enemies be scattered; and let them who hate Him flee from before His face... And let the just feast, and rejoice before God, and be delighted with gladness. (Psalm 68)
And the seven angels, who had the seven trumpets, prepared themselves to sound the trumpet. And the first angel sounded the trumpet, and there followed hail and fire, mingled with blood, and it was cast on the earth, and the third part of the earth was burned up, and the third part of the trees was burned up, and all green grass was burned up. And the second angel sounded the trumpet, and as it were a great mountain, burning with fire, was cast into the sea, and the third part of the sea became blood. And the third part of those creatures died, which had life in the sea, and the third part of the ships was destroyed. And the third angel sounded the trumpet, and a great star fell from heaven, burning as it were a torch, and it fell on the third part of the rivers, and upon the fountains of waters. And the name of the star is called Wormwood. And the third part of the waters became wormwood; and many men died of the waters, because they were made bitter. And the fourth angel sounded the trumpet, and the third part of the sun was smitten, and the third part of the moon, and the third part of the stars, so that the third part of them was darkened, and the day did not shine for a third part of it, and the night in like manner. And I beheld, and heard the voice of one eagle flying through the midst of heaven, saying with a loud voice: Woe, woe, woe to the inhabitants of the earth, because of the rest of the voices of the three angels, who are yet to sound the trumpet. And the fifth angel sounded the trumpet, and I saw a star fall from heaven upon the earth, and there was given to him the key of the bottomless pit. And he opened the bottomless pit, and the smoke of the pit arose, as the smoke of a great furnace; and the sun and the air were darkened with the smoke of the pit. And from the smoke of the pit there came out locusts upon the earth. And power was given to them, as the scorpions of the earth have power. And it was commanded them that they should not hurt the grass of the earth, nor any green thing, nor any tree, but only the men who have not the seal of God on their foreheads. And it was given unto them that they should not kill them; but that they should torment them five months; and their torment was as the torment of a scorpion when he strikes a man. And in those days men shall seek death, and shall not find it: and they shall desire to die, and death shall flee from them. And the shapes of the locusts were like unto horses prepared unto battle, and on their heads were, as it were, crowns like gold, and their faces were as the faces of men. And they had over them a king, the angel of the bottomless pit; whose name in Hebrew is Abaddon, and in Greek Apollyon. One woe is past, and behold there come yet two woes more hereafter. And the sixth angel sounded the trumpet, and I heard a voice from the four horns of the great altar, which is before the eyes of God, Saying to the sixth angel, who had the trumpet, Loose the four angels, who are bound in the great river Euphrates. And the four angels were loosed, who were prepared for an hour, and a day, and a month, and a year, for to kill the third part of men. And the number of the army of horsemen was twenty thousand times ten thousand. And I heard the number of them. And thus I saw the horses in the vision, and they who sat on them, had breastplates of fire and of hyacinth and of brimstone, and the heads of the horses were as the heads of lions, and from their mouths proceeded fire, and smoke, and brimstone. And by these three plagues was slain the third part of men, by the fire and by the smoke and by the brimstone, which issued out of their mouths. For the power of the horses is in their mouths, and in their tails. For, their tails are like to serpents, and have heads, and with them they hurt. And the rest of the men, who were not slain by these plagues, did not do penance from the works of their hands, that they should not adore devils, and idols of gold, and silver, and brass, and stone, and wood, which neither can see, nor hear, nor walk, neither they did penance from their murders, nor from their sorceries, nor from their sexual immorality, nor from their thefts... And the seventh angel sounded the trumpet, and there were great voices in heaven, saying: The kingdom of this world is become our Lord's and his Christ's, and he shall reign forever and ever. Amen. And I heard a great voice out of the temple, saying to the seven angels:
Go, and pour out the seven cups of the wrath of God upon the earth. And
the first went, and poured out his cup upon the earth, and there fell a
sore and grievous wound upon men, who had the character of the beast; and
upon them who adored his image. And the second angel poured out his cup
upon the sea, and there came blood as it were of a dead man; and every
living creature died in the sea. And the third poured out his cup upon the
rivers and the fountains of waters; and there was made blood. And I heard
the angel of the waters saying: you are just, O Lord, who are, and who
was, the Holy One, because you have judged these things, for they have
shed the blood of saints and prophets, and you have given them blood to
drink; for they are worthy. And I heard another, from the altar, saying:
yes, O Lord God Almighty, true and just are your judgments. And the fourth
angel poured out his cup upon the sun, and it was given unto him to
afflict men with heat and fire. And men were scorched with great heat, and
they blasphemed the name of God, who has power over these plagues, neither
they did penance to give him glory. And the fifth angel poured out his cup
upon the seat of the beast; and his kingdom became dark, and they gnawed
their tongues for pain. And they blasphemed the God of heaven, because of
their pains and wounds, and did not penance for their works... And the seventh angel poured out his cup upon the air, and
there came a great voice out of the temple from the throne, saying:
It is
done. And there were lightnings, and voices, and thunders, and there
was a great earthquake, such an one as never had been since men were upon
the earth, such an earthquake, so great. And the great city was divided
into three parts; and the cities of the nations fell. And great Babylon
came in remembrance before God, to give her the cup of the wine of the
indignation of his wrath. And every island fled away, and the mountains
were not found.

16) Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of trembling unto all the people round about, when they shall be in the siege both against Judah and against Jerusalem. And in that day will I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people [is this not what is more happening, Israel a center of conflicts and hate for the nations around it, and for the world?], all that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces, though all the people of the earth be gathered together against it (Almighty God - Prophet Zechariah 12:1-3). And the Lord shall roar out of Zion, and utter his voice from Jerusalem; and the heavens and the earth shall be moved, and the Lord shall be the hope of his people, and the strength of the children of Israel. There are numerous prophesies for the final restoration of Israel, and quoting one: Therefore say, Thus says the Lord God; Although I have cast them far off among the nations, and although I have scattered them among the countries, yet will I be to them as a little sanctuary in the countries where they shall come. Therefore say, Thus says the Lord God; I will even gather you from the people, and assemble you out of the countries where you have been scattered, and I will give you the land of Israel (Almighty God - Prophet Ezekiel 11:16-17). God has chosen Israel for the salvation of the world, and will restore Israel for the restoration of the world; a remnant will be saved through this final holocaust, and there will be One God, One Shepherd, and one flock; And other sheep I have, that are not of this fold, them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice, and there shall be one fold and One Shepherd (Our Lord Jesus - St John 10:16). For the law shall go forth out of Zion, and the word of the Lord out of Jerusalem.
Let them arise, and let the nations come up into the valley of Josaphat [Valley of Mount Megiddo or Mount of Olives - eventually through the entire land of Israel]; for there I will sit to judge all nations round about. Put in the sickles, for the harvest is ripe; come and go down, for the press is full, the fats run over; for their wickedness is multiplied. Nations, nations in the valley of destruction: for the day of the Lord is near in the valley of destruction. The sun and the moon are darkened, and the stars have withdrawn their shining. And the Lord shall roar out of Zion, and utter his voice from Jerusalem; and the heavens and the earth shall be moved, and the Lord shall be the hope of his people, and the strength of the children of Israel. And you shall know that I am the Lord your God, dwelling in Zion my holy mountain; and Jerusalem shall be holy. (Almighty God - Prophet Joel 3:12-17)
And the word of the Lord came to me, saying: Son of man, set your face against Gog, the land of Magog, the chief prince of Mosoch and Thubal [Moscow and Tobolsk - Russia], and prophesy of him, And say to him, Thus say the Lord God: Behold, I come against you, O Gog, the chief prince of Mosoch and Thubal. And I will turn you about, and I will put a bit in your jaws, and I will bring you forth, and all your army, horses and horsemen all splendidly clothed, a great multitude, armed with spears and shields and swords. The Persians, Ethiopians, and Libyans with them, all with shields and helmets. Gomer [Eastern Europe] and all its troops, the house of Thogorma [Turkey], the northern parts and all his strength, and many peoples with you. Prepare and make yourself ready, and all the multitude that is assembled about you, and you be commander over them. After many days you shall be visited, at the end of years you shall come to the land that is returned from the sword, and is gathered out of many nations, to the mountains of Israel which have been continually waste, but it has been brought forth out of the nations, and they shall all of them dwell securely in. And you shall go up and come like a storm, and like a cloud to cover the land, you and all your troops and many people with you. Thus says the Lord God: In that day projects shall enter into your heart, and you shall conceive an evil design. And you shall say: I will go up to the land which is without a wall, I will come to them who are at rest, and dwell securely; all these dwell without a wall, they have no bars nor gates, to take spoils, and lay hold on the prey, to lay your hand upon them that had been wasted, and afterwards restored, and upon the people that is gathered together out of the nations, which has begun to possess and to dwell in the midst of the earth... Therefore, you son of man, prophesy and say to Gog, Thus says the Lord God: shall you not know, in that day, when my people of Israel shall dwell securely? And then shall come out of your place from the northern parts, you and many people with you, all of them riding upon horses, a great company and a mighty army. And you shall come upon my people of Israel like a cloud, to cover the earth. you shall be in the latter days, and I will bring you upon my land, that the nations may know me, when I shall be sanctified in you, O Gog, before their eyes. Thus says the Lord God: you then are, of whom I have spoken in the days of old, by my servants the prophets of Israel, who prophesied in the days of those times that I would bring you upon them. And it shall come to pass in that day, in the day of the coming of Gog upon the land of Israel, says the Lord God, that my indignation shall come up in my wrath. And I have spoken in my zeal, and in the fire of my anger, that in that day there shall be a great commotion upon the land of Israel. So that the fishes of the sea, and the birds of the air, and the beasts of the field, and every creeping thing that creep upon the ground, and all men that are upon the face of the earth, shall be moved at my presence, and the mountains shall be thrown down, and the hedges shall fall, and every wall shall fall to the ground. And I will call in the sword against him in all my mountains, says the Lord God, every man's sword shall be pointed against his brother. And I will judge him with pestilence, and with blood, and with violent rain, and vast hailstones. I will rain fire and brimstone upon him, and upon his army, and upon the many nations that are with him. And I will be magnified, and I will be sanctified, and I will be known in the eyes of many nations, and they shall know that I am the Lord... And I will set my glory among the nations, and all nations shall see my judgment that I have executed, and my hand that I have laid upon them. And the house of Israel shall know that I am the Lord their God from that day and forward. And the nations shall know that the house of Israel were made captives for their iniquity, because they forsook me, and I hid my face from them, and I delivered them into the hands of their enemies, and they fell all by the sword. I have dealt with them according to their uncleanness, and wickedness, and hid my face from them. Therefore, thus says the Lord God: Now will I bring back the captivity of Jacob, and will have mercy on all the house of Israel, and I will be jealous for my holy name. And they shall bear their confusion, and all the transgressions wherewith they have transgressed against me, when they shall dwell in their land securely fearing no man. And I shall have brought them back from among the nations, and shall have gathered them together out of the lands of their enemies, and shall be sanctified in them, in the sight of many nations. And they shall know that I am the Lord their God, because I caused them to be carried away among the nations; and I have gathered them together unto their own land, and have not left any of them there. And I will hide my face no more from them, for I have poured out my spirit upon all the house of Israel, says the Lord God. (Almighty God - Prophet Ezekiel Chap. 38 & 39)
I have commanded my sanctified ones, and have called my strong ones in my wrath, them who rejoice in my glory. The noise of a multitude in the mountains, as it were of many people, the noise of the sound of kings, of nations gathered together. The Lord of hosts has given charge to the troops of war. To them who come from a country afar off, from the end of heaven, the Lord and the instruments of his wrath, to destroy the whole land. Howl, for the day of the Lord is near, it shall come as a destruction from the Lord. Therefore shall all hands be faint, and every heart of man shall melt, and shall be broken. Gripings and pains shall take hold of them, they shall be in pain as a woman in labour. Every one shall be amazed at his neighbour, their countenances shall be as faces burnt. Behold, the day of the Lord shall come, a cruel day, and full of indignation, and of wrath, and fury, to lay the land desolate, and to destroy the sinners thereof out of it. For the stars of heaven, and their brightness shall not display their light, the sun shall be darkened in his rising, and the moon shall not shine with her light. And I will visit the evils of the world, and against the wicked for their iniquity, and I will make the pride of infidels to cease, and will bring down the arrogance of the mighty. A man shall be more precious than gold, yes a man than the finest of gold. For this I will trouble the heaven, and the earth shall be moved out of her place, for the indignation of the Lord of hosts, and for the day of his fierce wrath (Almighty God - Prophet Isaiah 13:3-13).
Behold the name of the Lord come from afar, his wrath burn, and is heavy to bear, his lips are filled with indignation, and his tongue as a devouring fire. His breath as a torrent overflowing even to the midst of the neck, to destroy the nations unto nothing, and the bridle of error that was in the jaws of the people. And the Lord shall make the glory of his voice to be heard, and shall show the terror of his arm, in the threatening of wrath, and the flame of devouring fire; he shall crush to pieces with whirlwind, and hailstones (Prophet Isaiah 30:27,28,30).
The great day of the Lord is near, it is near and exceeding swift; the voice of the day of the Lord is bitter, the mighty man shall there meet with tribulation. That day is a day of wrath, a day of tribulation and distress, a day of calamity and misery, a day of darkness and obscurity, a day of clouds and whirlwinds, a day of the trumpet and alarm against the fenced cities, and against the high bulwarks. And I will distress men, and they shall walk like blind men, because they have sinned against the Lord, and their blood shall be poured out as earth, and their bodies as dung. Neither shall their silver and their gold be able to deliver them in the day of the wrath of the Lord. All the land shall be devoured by the fire of his jealousy, for he shall make even a speedy destruction of all them who dwell in the land. (Prophet Zephaniah 1:14-18)
For this is the day of the Lord the God of hosts, a day of vengeance, that he may revenge himself of his enemies; the sword shall devour, and shall be filled, and shall be drunk with their blood. (Prophet Jeremiah 46:10)
For the day of the Lord is at hand upon all nations; as you have done, so shall it be done to you; he will turn your reward upon your own head. (Prophet Obadiah 1:15)
The sword without; and the pestilence and the
famine within. Whoever is in the field shall die by the sword; and whoever
is in the city, shall be devoured by pestilence and famine. Those who
shall flee shall escape; and they shall be in the mountains like doves of
the valleys, all of them mourning, every one for his iniquity. All hands
shall be made feeble, and all knees shall be weak as water. And they shall
gird themselves with haircloth, and fear shall cover them, and shame shall
be upon every face, and baldness upon all their heads. Their silver shall
be cast forth, and their gold shall become a dunghill. Their silver and
their gold shall not be able to deliver them in the day of the wrath of
the Lord. They shall not satisfy their soul, and their bellies shall not
be filled; because it has been the stumblingblock of their iniquity.

The third thing that shall go before the judgment shall be the right vehement fire, the which shall go before the face of the Judge. And God shall send fire for the renewing of the world, for he shall purge and renew the elements; for the purgation of the people, for then that fire shall be instead of the fire of purgatory to them that then shall be alive; to give more greater torment to them that are damned; to give more clearness and light unto the saints. (Golden Legend)
For this world shall pass away by transmutation, not by absolute destruction. (St Augustine).
And the Lord has uttered his voice before the face of his army, for his armies are exceeding great, for they are strong and execute his word; for the day of the Lord is great and very terrible, and who can stand it? Now therefore says the Lord: Be converted to me with all your heart, in fasting, and in weeping, and in mourning. And rend your hearts, and not your garments, and turn to the Lord your God, for he is gracious and merciful, patient and rich in mercy, and ready to repent of the evil. (Prophet Joel 2:11-13)

world and to call it to salvation and to the way towards Himself, who is
